In vitro, only a small number of primary oligodendrocytes express GFAP and GFAP+ astocytes rarely express oligodendrocytic markers. MO3.13, an immortal human-human hybrid cell line that express phenotypic characteristics of primary oligodendrocytes, was created by fusing a 6-thioguanine-resistant mutant of the human rhabdomyosarcoma RD with adult human oligodendrocytes by a lectin-enhanced polyethylene glycol procedure. In contrast to the tumor parent, M03.13 expressed surface immunoreactivity for galactosyl cerebroside(GS) and intracellular immunoreactivity for myelin basic protein (MBP), proteolipid protein (PLP), and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP).

The Human Cerebral Microvascular Endothelial Cell Line (hCMEC/D3) was prepared from cerebral microvessel endothelial cells (CECs) by transduction with lentiviral vectors carrying the SV40 T antigen and human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT). This cell line shows a spindle-shaped, elongated morphology similar to primary cultures of brain endothelial cells and also exhibits contact inhibition at confluence when cultured on collagen type I or IV. In addition, this line expresses a variety of brain endothelial markers, adherence junction (AJ) and tight junction (TJ) proteins as well as functional ABC transporters typical to brain epithelium. hCMEC/D3 represents a stable, easily grown blood brain barrier (BBB) model cell line.

Since few transplanted cells persist in vivo, the beneficial effects of cell therapy may lie in the secreted factors being the active component of this treatment. A key part of paracrine secretion is Exosomes, which are membrane vesicles that are stored intracellularly in endosomal compartments and are secreted when these structures fuse with the cell plasma membrane. Exosomes contain protein, DNA, and RNA, thus making them an attractive vector of paracrine signals delivered by stem cells. Exosomes may also be "loaded" with predetermined proteins and nucleic acid to achieve a desired effect. Exosomes can be stored as an "off-the-shelf" product having the potential for circumventing many of the limitations of viable cells for therapeutic applications in regenerative medicine. In vitro, exosomes from pre-adipocytes stimulate cell proliferation in a wound healing model. In vivo, adipose-graft derived exosomes have been shown to be a promising tool for skin repair and remodeling

ZenBio human pre-adipocytes (adipose derived adult stem cells) and placental mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) are characterized by their self-renewing capacity and ability to differentiate into chondrocytes, adipocytes, and osteocytes. This makes them attractive starting materials for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications.

Human Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMCs), CryopreserRef: SER-PBMC-FSizes: VialFrom: €215.00
Cryopreserved Human Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMCs) are available as positive and negative controls for T-cell monitoring in ELISPOT, ELISA, cytokine bead array, tetramer/pentamer, and flow cytometry assays. A peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) is defined as any blood cell with a round nucleus (i.e. a lymphocyte, a monocyte, or a macrophage). These blood cells are a critical component in the immune system to fight infection and adapt to intruders. The lymphocyte population consists of T cells, B cells and Natural Killer cells. These cells are often extracted from whole blood or from leukopacks using ficoll, a hydrophilic polysaccharide that separates layers of blood, with monocytes and lymphocytes forming a buffy coat under a layer of plasma. Samples from each donor are tested via PCR to confirm non-reactivity.
