18-(NHS ester-methylamine-PEG3-ethylcarbamoyl)heptadecanoic-t-butyl ester is a PEG linker with an NHS ester group and an alkane tail that has a terminal t-butyl ester group. The NHS ester can be used to label the primary amines (-NH2) of proteins, amine-modified oligonucleotides, and other amine-containing molecules. The t-butyl protected carboxyl group can be deprotected under acidic conditions. The polymer can form micelles spontaneously in water.
