In addition it has important roles in neurodegenerative disorders such as Huntington’s Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases. Caspase 6 cleaves the mutated huntintin protein and the amyloid precursor protein resulting in the aggregating protein fragments typical of Huntington’s and Alzheimer’s diseases respectively.Activity is quantified by the release of p-nitroaniline which is measured by absorbance at 405 nm.
