Like all caspases it cleaves at the Asp residue and prefers the sequence Leu-Glu-Val-Asp.Activity is quantified by release of free fluorescent 7-amino-4-methylcoumarin (AMC) which excites at 360-380 nm and emits at 440-460 nm.
