Activity is quantified by release of free fluorescent 7-amino-4-methylcoumarin (AMC) which excites at 360-380 nm and emits at 440-460 nm.Cathepsin D is a lysosomal aspartyl protease whose role is to degrade and activate intracellular proteins including hormones enzyme precursors and growth factors.
