Ion Channels and Cancer Immunology

Ions channels are pore-forming membrane proteins that control ion transit across the cell membrane to various stimuli. It was shown that deregulation or dysfunction of channels are clearly linked to many human diseases like cancer.

Ion channels can affect immune cells activation and their cytotoxicity against cancer cells. Their abnormal expression or activity stimulate the malignant phenotype. All these facts indicate that novel cancer therapies could be found with pharmacology agents ion channel target specific.

Ion channels Genetex tebu-bioToday, I would like to focus on the use of antibodies for your ion channel research. These antibodies allow to study different behavior like proliferation behaviour, migration and metastasis, tumor angiogenesis and apoptosis resistance.

  • Anti Orai1: a Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody to Orai 1 to study Ion Channels SOCs
  • Anti Kir1.1 antibody: a Rabbit Polyclonal antibody to Kir1.1 / ROMK
  • Anti TRPC6: a Rabbit Polyclonal antibody to TRPC6 to study Ion Channel TRP
  • Anti TRPA1: a Rabbit Polyclonal antibody to TRPA1 for TRP Ion Channel
  • Anti TRPV1: a Rabbit Polyclonal antibody to TRPV1 for TRP Ion Channel

These antibodies are very useful to show ion channels with the use of coloured products. Parallel to these studies, it could be interesting to use venomous toxins to specifically block or activate ion channels of different classes.

There are also a number of studies focused on cell lines over expressing specific ion channels which are designed for cell based ion channel assays in drug discovery.

With the help of all these tools, research is progressing as shown the recent resolution structure of the TRPA1 channel protein.

If you have questions concerning about these compounds, get in touch – your comments are welcome!
